Course Level/Prerequisites/Final Exam

This is an introductory level course. A Certificate of Completion is issued once you pass the final exam with a mark of 70% of higher. Recommended companion courses are; How Fundraising Works, How to Develop Corporate Sponsorship, Build Your Case for Donorship Support.

About the Author

Heather Nelson, MBA, CFRE

Founder and President at boutique fundraising consultancy, BridgeRaise, Heather and her team help nonprofits raise more money from companies by prioritizing aligned values. Heather is a 20+ year fundraiser, corporate partnership expert, mentor, teacher, tree person, and a dog and hockey mom!

For over 6 years, BridgeRaise has worked with 100s of charities starting and growing corporate partnerships. Prior to starting BridgeRaise, Heather held positions in program management, communications and fundraising at Youth Challenge International, Street Kids International and Food Banks Canada. In 2022, Heather was the interim Chief Development and Partnership Officer at Food Banks Canada overseeing a team of 20 and a $100M revenue budget.

Heather has an MBA in nonprofit management from the Schulich School of Business and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Queen’s University. Heather has been a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) since 2014. She is an experienced mentor and teacher, including having designed and taught Introduction to Fundraising at Toronto Metropolitan University.
